Farwood CEM Treatment Center is located in the beautiful Rogue Valley of southern Oregon just north of the California border. The center is easily accessed from I-5 and is just 10 minutes from the Rogue Valley International Airport in Medford, Oregon. Farwood CEM Treatment Center is a unique facility encompassing a 30 acre horse park with jumps, three outdoor arenas, and an indoor covered arena for inclement weather training. Custom excercise/work programs are available. Additional services and individualized care are our specialty! Some of our clients' horses have gone straight to the show ring from quarantine release as they were able to continue their training regimen during the quarantine period. Upon arrival at the facility, the horses are removed from a sealed van and checked for general health and well-being. They are then hand-walked until settled and given a warm bran mash with plenty of fresh water on hand. All services conducted by USDA approved and certified veterinarians. About CEM: Federal law requires that all imported horses of breeding age (over 2 years) and ability from any country known to have CEM (Contagious Equine Metritis) go to a CEM quarantine facility for testing and treatment. CEM is a venereal disease of horses caused by bacteria and spread through breeding. Ultimately, CEM results in a mare's inability to conceive. Stallions can carry the bacteria, but do not show outright signs of the disease. They must be bred to proven non-CEM carrying mares who are then tested as the incoming mares are. Fees: We are a private training center that can provide a pleasant, healthy, full care custom program for you and your horse at competitive costs. Our basic fees include: CEM treatment, cultures and packing, stabling up to 18 days (longer for stallions), feed, daily turn-out, hand-walking or lounging, blankets on and off as needed, personal telephone reports, and visits by appointment. Basic Mare Fee: $2100, Basic Stallion Fee: $4700 To book a place for your import horse, contact Penny Barreras by phone 541-830-5304, cell phone 541-944-5531 or by email. We have a private van available to bring your horse from Los Angeles (the west coast port for importation) directly to our facility. We can also arrange delivery to you at the end of the quarantine period.
